Choosing hallway rugs & runners
Runners and narrow rugs for hallways, landings and entrances.
Hallways take the most foot traffic in the house. Choose a durable or washable runner, leave 10–15 cm of floor either side and 20–30 cm at each end so doors open freely. Patterned and mid-tone runners hide everyday marks. See our rug size guide for room-by-room advice. Delivery is free on every order. How long should a hallway runner be?
Leave 20–30 cm of floor at each end. A 300 cm runner suits most hallways; long hallways can take two runners with a small gap.
Should I choose a washable rug?
For busy rooms, homes with pets or children, a washable rug is the most practical choice. Our designer washable rugs are printed polyester chenille on a woven cotton backing and can be machine washed at 30°C on a gentle cycle — air dry flat and follow the care label.
